A Limited Series

LOST HOPE

LOST HOPE follows the spectacular rise and ruin of Evalyn Walsh McLean, daughter of American gold rush royalty who defied the legendary curse of the Hope Diamond, only to lose everything in the glittering blue shadow of the world’s most notorious jewel.

THE PREMISE

LOST HOPE is a six-part limited series showcasing the dark underbelly of the “American dream” through the lens of its most glittering and cursed artifact: the Hope Diamond. Evalyn Walsh McLean is a beautiful, bold, brash, bigger-than-life scion of the American Gilded Age who rises from gold rush nouveau riche to conquer Washington D.C. high society, marrying into a media empire and befriending presidents. Yet, this meteoric rise is always shadowed by sudden, haunting tragedies, personal grief, and a growing morphine dependency. When the famously cursed diamond—steeped in a dark history of financial ruin, disgrace, and violent deaths ranging from Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette to sultans—is presented to her by Pierre Cartier, she cannot resist, laughing in the face of the lore to prove she will not fall victim to its influence. As the series progresses, the diamond takes on a silent sentience of its own, becoming a member of the household worn by her favorite dog or tucked in a chair cushion, even as darkness creeps in. As the death of her brother, the death of her child, political scandal, her husband’s sanity, and dwindling wealth follow her, she must face the ultimate question: Will she ever admit her suffering is caused by the diamond's curse?

Tone & Style

LOST HOPE is a visual descent from the sun-drenched opulence of the Belle Époque to the shadow-choked decay of a supernatural mystery- The Great Gatsby meets American Horror Story

The journey begins in the warm, amber saturation of a world convinced that money is infinite, before pivoting sharply into the high-contrast angles of Film Noir as the Great Depression takes hold. By the final act, the atmosphere settles into a chilling American Gothic—defined by desaturated blues, dust-mote silence, and the oppressive scale of mansions turned mausoleums. Deep navies, sharp shadows, and a cinematic, high-fashion editorial aesthetic define the haunting look of this limited series.
